REFORM_DIGITAL_GRID_ANIMATION

This animation is a formation of the colours taken from the pigeon and the digital contours of the circuit board. The flashing and movement of the shapes are my take on how circuit boards may configure within the actual object, as appose to looking at the blatant elements of it.

The format of the block colours is a mental and abstract representation of how i see the mechanics within a circuit board.

ZINE_BURGER

My Zine is a basis of distortion and destruction to the human body through the use of steroids. Many people know what a Bodybuilder is and many aid themselves with steroids to promote rapid growth due to obsession. I wanted to show how they abuse the human body inside, and how all steroid users realise this but self-obsession and self-image wins over and so they sacrifice their health for their image. My Zine is a basis of mixed-media's and vector graphics, forming very abstract illustrations, which visually describe the flaws of steroid abuse. This particular example holds elements of x-ray graphics and lines directing into the components, as a representation to injecting.

PIGEON_FOOTAGE_ANIMATION

I came across this pigeon in London, perhaps an additional element for my REFORM animation.

LONDON 05_11_09

These two examples of floor signage were found near the Tate Modern. A very unique way of navigation, unlike like many street posted signage, these have been designed with tracking and leading in mind.

This display of typography at the Tate Modern shows how work is placed and presented in an exhibition. By using alot of negative space the piece is very effective in a minimal way.

Our visit to London was to get a preview of the space we'll be using for our future show, "Free Range". It gave me an in site and taste to what will be coming for May/June, in preparation for our 09 show.

Here, I approached a vector base of imagery and aimed to use simple shapes such as, rectangles and triangles, to give a sense of accuracy and precision. Both pigeons and circuit boards hold these sentimental values, but in there own way. The colours are an inspiration of how i see electricity, garish and loud.

With the circuit board being my object, I wanted to incorporate my Hybrid in the form of a circuit board, and so I integrated the colours (green, black and yellow) along with the shape, and created a Hybird in a "Digital" conception, but with the merging of the pigeon.

Wednesday, 21 October 2009

Here are three mixed media illustrations demonstrating the manipulative elements, when applied to the two objects. This can then conclude to a Hybrid.

These are my 3 studies of the circuit board using black pen and pencil.

REFORM_BRIEF

As part of the Reform Brief, I've partially decided to use a type of circuit board, perhaps this one? The detail is immense and it will be interesting to draw.

Using scientific related elements, I've began to create a basis of graphic imagery. I want to continue with this style, but with the addition of technical scientific diagrams, reminiscent of Da Vinci's, Vitruvian Man study.

These studies by Da Vinci show he's enourmous attention to detail, which was ground breaking in his time.

FMP-INITIAL-IDEAS

My first initial idea was based on the recent death of my cat. I didn't want to base my FMP on my cat obviously, but i wanted to concentrate on aspects relating to what she meant and how life and death situations eff
ect people.

I started to think about elements of death, of how people see it as an afterlife or a journey, or how others see it as a fearful objective in life. Words which correlate to this such as, direction, jo
urney, decay and sorrow began to shine
out to me, and so I began to impliment these into visuals.
